The Eagle Reader program is a school-wide reading incentive program that challenges students to meet reading goals each month. Our program’s goal is to get kids reading or listening to the written word. Research shows that kids who read….SUCCEED! Reading minutes can include reading alone, reading with a family member or being read to, using reading programs, and listening to audio books.

There will be special awards throughout the year for students who continually meet their goals, so turning in your timesheet and completing your monthly minutes goal will be very important for you and your class!

Minute Requirements:

Kindergarten                         300 minutes/month (10 minutes every day)

Grades 1 & 2                        450 minutes/month (15 minutes every day)

Grades 3 & 4                        600 minutes/month (25 minutes every day)

Grades 5 & 6                        750 minutes/month (30 minutes every day)

Due Dates:

Timesheets for a given month are due the first school day of the following month (Ex: October Timesheets will be due November 1st). Reminders will be given to students. Late timesheets will still count for the yearly total, but students may not receive the monthly prize if their minutes are not turned in on time. Additionally, late timesheets will NOT count towards class competitions.

PTA is really excited about the reading program this year and hope you are too! Get ready to SOAR LIKE AN EAGLE towards your reading goals.
