Eagle Reader Program
The first month (October) of the Eagle Reader program saw 53.6% of students meet their reading goals this month and 58% of students turned in a timesheet. We were able to purchase 53 books during the October book fair using Scholastic Dollars allocated to the program by the PTA. Those books will be raffled to students during the coming months who meet their reading goals. We will also use Scholastic Dollars to provide $5 coupons to the February book fair for the winning class of our January class competition (December minutes), so make sure you track your reading during the month of December!
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Eagle Reader program is a school wide reading incentive program that challenges students to meet reading goals each month. Our program’s goal is to encourage at home reading. Students will receive prizes each month for achieving their goals. Reading minutes can include reading alone, reading with a sibling, listening to a parent or other family member read, reading using “Raz Kids” or other reading programs, and audio books. The point is to get the kids reading or listening to the written word. Research shows that kids who read….SUCCEED!
There will also be special awards throughout the year for students who continually meet their goals, including an ice cream party and a pizza party.
We will be having school-wide competitions between classrooms, so turning in your timesheet and completing your monthly minutes goal will be very important for you and your class!

Late timesheets will still count for the yearly total, but students may not receive the monthly prize if their minutes are not turned in on time. Additionally, late timesheets will NOT count towards class competitions.
